On Saturday, July 14th, 2007, the second
annual "Blue Ribbon Poker Run" took place and was a huge success. The event was sponsored by the Omaha
Police Union and the proceeds went to the Special Olympics.
The ride started at our Union Hall and we were escorted out of town by OPD's solo units. Stops on the ride included the American Legion Club in Fort Calhoun, Papa Joe's Tavern in Missouri Valley, Hog Heaven Tavern in Crescent, and then back to the Union Hall for hamburgers and hotdogs. We had about 90 motorcycles that took part in this year's event and we raised approximately $1,900.00. Seeing this many bikes going through town all at once was a beautiful sight. The weather was nice and the riders had a great time. We even had one marriage proposal during the ride. I would like to thank all of the people that volunteered their time for our event. I would also like to thank all of the riders that participated in this year's event and I hope to see everyone again next year. |
